KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A hit-and-run incident Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri, resulted in life-threatening injuries.

Police said a 28-year-old male and a 41-year-old female were west of 17th Street and Kensington Avenue when an eastbound vehicle hit them and left the scene.

The victims, according to police, were either riding a bicycle or standing alongside one when they were struck. Police said the male victim was in critical condition at an area hospital and the female was in serious but stable condition.

A dog that was with the victims died at the scene, according to police.

Police said the vehicle that fled the scene lost a front corner light during the collision.
