Hit and run victim found Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 50 Highway in Johnson County, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man walking with a gas can to his pick up truck was struck and critically injured Tuesday night on U.S. 50 Highway in Johnson County, Mo.

A spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol said the incident happened about 6:30 p.m.

A passing motorist found the victim in the eastbound lane.

The man was flown to a hospital by a helicopter ambulance.

The victim's white Isuzu pickup truck ran out of gas and the man walked to get gasoline.

He was on the way back with the gasoline when struck.

The patrol's spokesman said the victim's pickup truck was hauling two portable toilets.

The suspect's vehicle likely has damage to the right front and the windshield.
