SHAWNEE, Kan. — It's Christmas Eve and some shoppers are just getting started on their holiday gift list.

At Kohl's, the department store has been open for 24 hours the past few days, and will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

According to a survey from the National Retail Federation, shoppers say they'll spend a little over $1,000 this holiday season, which is up four percent from last year.

Also in the survey, it shows shoppers will spend roughly $500 for family, $84 for friends and a little over $30 for either coworkers or others.

For Lawrence Oquendo, he said it's a tradition for him and his wife to get last minute gifts.

"It's just more quality time with the wife, I mean we're so busy with me coaching her working, me working, that just these little few minutes, it's precious to me," he said. "Come early if you're going to do it. I mean this place is normally packed. Right now, it's very quiet so we can get in and out so anyone that's thinking about that last minute, make sure you come early."

At certain Kohl's locations, you can return Amazon packages and gifts. They pack and ship for free. To learn more, click here.
