I-35 shut down in Liberty after power lines across roadway after crash

UPDATE: Aug. 22, 12:40 p.m. | All lanes are back open.

UPDATE: Aug. 22, 11:40 p.m. | One lane on southbound I-35 has been reopened, and by noon the traffic backup was cleared. Crews continue to work to open the entire roadway.

EARLIER | Interstate 35 was shut down in both directions in Liberty after an oversized load knocked power lines across the roadway shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

I-35 northound was shut down at 152 Highway, and I-35 southbound was shut down at 291 Highway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said an oversized load knocked down at line at 291 Highway at Glenn Hendren Drive.

No serious injures were reported in the crash.

I-35 NB was reopened about 10:20 a.m., southbound lanes still are closed.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
