UPDATE: | The Belton Police Department re-opened I-49 shortly before 8 a.m.
I-49 SB at 163rd Street has been shut down due to a 2-vehicle crash.
The Belton Police Department was called to the scene just before 6:30 a.m.
The crash reportedly occurred in the southbound lanes, but both directions of I-49 are impacted.
No word yet on possible injuries or the cause of the crash.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
