Just after midnight a 2001 Kia rolled over on I-70 eastbound near Sweet Springs ejecting four of the five in the vehicle, and killed the driver.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says a possible vehicle defect caused the Kia to skid and travel off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned multiple times, ejecting four passengers.
All five were initially listed in serious condition, but since then, the driver, 18 year old Kristen D. Moore, Independence passed away at an area hospital.
Others listed in serious condition include Livia R. Halla, 17, Arredondo, Celia Rodriguez, 17, Tobias A. Seek, 20, and Seth A. Steele, 19, all from Independence.
