I-70WB & Sterling 2-semi crash, fire, traffic at a standstill

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — I-70WB at Sterling in Independence is in a standstill after two semis crashed.

The Independence Police Department says two semis crashed near Sterling Avenue shortly before 7:45 a.m.

One of the semis caught fire.

No injuries have been reported.

The highway was shut down for a short time while emergency crews extinguished the fire.

A small amount of traffic is now getting by on the shoulder.

Motorists should avoid the area.
