Illinois man killed in Sunday crash on I-70

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Interstate 70 in Missouri Sunday morning.

The crash happened at the 54-mile marker of I-70 eastbound, just west of Concordia.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2005 Honda Pilot ran into the cable barrier in the median before traveling off the opposite side of the road and hitting a tree.

The driver, 61-year-old Michael Winter of Newton, Illinois, was killed. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Winter was the only occupant of the car.
