INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — An Independence neighborhood is on alert after thieves broke into the same home for the third time in less than a year.

Richard Adams and his wife, Anne, are frustrated and worried it may happen again, but as far as they know they are the only ones who have been targeted in the neighborhood.

They have only lived in the house for a year.

The latest break-in was caught it all on camera and Adams shared the video of everything the suspects did before the break-in with 41 Action News.

Two of the suspected burglars went to the front door without masks and three of them were in the backyard trying to break in before one of them moved the camera.

Eventually, the suspects broke through a window and went inside, but Adams said they didn’t steal anything this time.

“They were very arrogant at what they were doing," he said. "They seem to be in the yard for quite a while."

Adams' home was broken into and robbed in November when someone took jewelry and guns.

“It was terrifying because, you know, a brand new house,” Adams said.

Then, another break-in happened six weeks later.

“The second time, I felt the same but more frustrated,” Adams said.

Now, the third time, he’s had enough.

“This time I was just really outraged and furious," Adams said.

He believes it’s the same people who keep breaking in and wants his one-of-a-kind items returned.

“We had a ring that was taken from my wife that was her mother's who passed away," Adams said. "You cannot replace stuff like that. Guns that were passed down from my grandfather that I never met. You just can't replace it."

He hopes his video helps police track down the suspects and has a simple message for these criminals.

“Just please stop.”

If you have any information on the suspects you are urged to call Independence Police Department at 816-325-7300.
