KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Independence, Missouri, police officers rescued a dog stranded in a pond on Tuesday night.

Three officers were called to the area near 300 East Partridge Avenue when a resident "noticed a dog clinging to ice near the center of the water," according to the IPD Facebook page.

Tethering themselves to a rope, the officers walked into the water and were able to bring the dog to safety.

The dog has been returned to her owners.
