UPDATE, July 20 | Police announced that the bicyclist died of his injuries on July 14. He was identified as 50-year-old Christopher Fitzgerald of Kansas City.
ORIGINAL STORY, July 12 | A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck at U.S. 40 just east of Crysler Avenue shortly after midnight.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday.
Officers say an eastbound car struck a bicyclist that was crossing the road.
The 50-year-old male bicyclist was transported to an area hospital with significant injuries.
The driver of the car was not injured.
An investigation is underway.
