A homeowner who said he was ripped off by a local business is now getting help from another business owner.
Last week, 41 Action News investigators reported that Chris McMahon paid John Campbell with Finishing Touch Inc. more than $100,000 to remodel his Hyde Park home.
The job was supposed to be done in March of last year; however, McMahon said Campbell only completed about $60,000 worth of work.
"John really screwed me," McMahon said.

On Monday, Aaron Young, president of Spectrum Services LLC, a construction and real estate development consulting company, showed up at McMahon's home to help.
"You see a report of someone who's had bad luck and you think to yourself, 'That's awful, I wish I could help them, but I don't know how,'" Young said. "When I saw Chris's story I thought, 'Well, here's a person that I'd like to help, and I know exactly how.'"
With a measuring tape in hand, Young walked through McMahon's three-story home and developed a plan to help get it move-in ready.
Young expects that, with the help of some workers who have also agreed to volunteer their time, they can get McMahon's home completed in about six weeks.
"It's nice to know that there are people willing to help," McMahon said.
After months of frustration and wondering if he'd ever be able to come up with the money to complete his home, a tearful McMahon spoke about the outpouring of support he's received from the community.
"I was at Home Depot and a complete stranger gave me a one-hundred dollar gift card," McMahon said. "I just figured, I was going to be working on this for a very long time."
41 Action News investigators found that Campbell, the person McMahon originally hired to remodel his home, has a bad track record when it comes to completing the job.
Court records show Campbell has lost about half a dozen lawsuits since 2008.
When attempting to question Campbell about what happened to the money McMahon gave him, he told 41 Action News investigators that his legal counsel has advised him not to talk.
McMahon said his initial plan was to keep the home in which he's currently living in addition to the remodel, but he was recently forced to sell it. Young's help comes just in time.
"The possibility of just having the house done would be amazing," McMahon said. "I was planning on living in it with it not being livable."
