Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the ex-boyfriend of Kara Kopetsky, 23-year-old Kylr Yust, after a judge issued an arrest warrant for failing to show up in court.

Yust was scheduled to appear at a hearing on Dec. 12 on felony charges that he stole equipment from a Kansas City tattoo parlor.

“I can confirm that arrest warrant was issued yesterday after he failed to appear,” Michael Mansur, Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman said.   “The arrest warrant was issued for Sheriff’s Department.”

In a separate case, he’s accused of killing three kittens.

Kopetsky disappeared at 17 after walking out of the Belton High School in 2007.

She had filed a restraining order against Yust four days prior to her disappearance claiming that he choked her and threatened to kill her.

Belton police have said Yust had an alibi and passed a lie detector test in the Kopetsky case.

In September, he pleaded guilty to attacking his current girlfriend.

During the attack, she told police he threatened to kill her and said he’d killed ex-girlfriends before.

Yust texted me indicating that he had resolved the arrest warrant by turning himself in and covering the $4,500 bond.

Officials in the prosecutor's office said they have no record of that.
