KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Jackson County Jail corrections officer has been charged for having sexual contact with a female inmate.

Jaroyne D. Wright, 25, of Shawnee Mission, Kan. faces a felony charge of sexual contact with a prisoner.

According to court documents filed Saturday, the incident happened on April 29 while Wright was working in the medical housing area of the jail.

Court documents say Wright was observed exchanging multiple notes to a female inmate throughout his shift. Those notes were later recovered from the inmate's sell and were sexual in nature.

Wright was also observed on surveillance video opening the inmate's cell door and putting his arm inside the cell. Court documents say the inmate was observed reaching toward Wright and their bodies moved closer together at the door.

On May 11, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department were called to the jail to review the surveillance video.

When questioned by detectives, Wright admitted to having sexual conversations and contact with the inmate.

Wright was taken into custody and taken to a different county detention center. Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond.
