KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County, Kansas, Parks and Recreation Department announced Monday it will reopen in four phases.

Phase 1 includes includes park shelters and restrooms opening, but with restrictions.

Park visitors can use the shelters, but there is a limit of 10 people per activity zone when social distancing is not possible, according to the parks department's website.

The park restrooms will be open, cleaned and sanitized each day.

Most programs, including all indoor programming and the 50 Plus programs, will remain closed.

Indoor pools, fitness centers, beaches and marinas also are closed.

Most of the programs won't return until in Phase 3 of Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly's plan to reopen the state.

Phase 3 will begin no earlier than June 1.
