KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Johnson County priest was found guilty of stealing from his parish over the course of six months.

Rev. Joseph Cramer, 69, pleaded no contest on Friday to felony theft, meaning that he acknowledged the evidence against him but did not admit guilt. A Johnson County judge then found him guilty and ordered Cramer to pay more than $46,000 to the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

He also was banned from entering any casino, according to court records.

Cramer was charged in May 2018 with stealing at least $25,000 from the Divine Mercy Parish in Gardner between November 2015 and May 2016.

In September 2017, the diocese placed Cramer on administrative leave after discovering “financial irregularities” at the parish.

Cramer is set to be sentenced on Dec. 30.
