KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Johnson County woman will serve nearly 29 years in prison for attempting to poison her three children.
A Johnson County judge sentenced Therese Roever, 39, to 347 months in prison after she pleaded guilty earlier this year to three counts of attempted first-degree murder and making a criminal threat.
The charges stem from a February 2018 incident in Olathe, in which Roever attempted to kill her children, all under the age of 10, by poisoning them.
According to hospital records, all three children survived after receiving medical attention, though doctors said they would have died had they not received help.
