Daycare prepares kids for severe weather

As the threat of severe weather moves into our area, we learned how Rising Sun Learning Center is preparing ahead of the storm.

When the weather turns, safety is a priority for Megan Huffman, who owns Rising Sun Learning Center.

"Throughout the year we do tornado drills and the kids know what to do and where to take shelter. In the event of a tornado, we are able to take shelter in the nearby Price Chopper," said Huffman.

When we have severe weather, here are tips to stay safe:
  • Stay indoors.
  • Stay away from windows.
  • Have a flashlight.
  • Use a weather radio.
  • Take shelter in the basement or lowest ground level.
