Five thousand hours of community service are now in the books, thanks to the hard work of students from four Northland High Schools.
Roughly four dozen of them are from Liberty High School. Those seniors volunteered at the KC Pet Project.
For Senior Alana Pendergraft this day was eye opening.
“I guess it kind of is a day off from school, but it’s more of a way to give back like none of us have done before,” said Pendergraft.
And for Senior Madison Thompson, it gives her a head start on her career.
“After I go to college and graduate high school I’m hoping to be a very good vet tech, helping out with animals, which is a reason why I’m here,” said Thompson.
This volunteering project is in its fourth year. The students are from North Kansas City High, Park Hill South, Oak Park and Liberty High. The 1600 students helped out at 33 locations across the KC Metro, including the Kansas City Zoo, City Union Mission, and the American Cancer Society.
