Kansas City, Kansas, police identify homicide victim from Sunday morning shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead after a shooting Sunday morning in Kansas City, Kansas.

KCK police officers responded shortly before 10 a.m. to the 1100 block of Central Avenue on a report of shots fired.

Officers located a deceased man "with one apparent gunshot wound," according to a news release.

KCK police identified the victim Tuesday as 49-year-old Steven Peoples of KCK.

A person of interest in Peoples' shooting was identified, taken into custody and cooperated with law enforcement.
