KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man who threatened to kill the mother of his child is now charged with her murder.
Jackson County prosecutors charged Michael D. Garrett, 32, of Kansas City, Missouri, with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
Garrett is accused of the Aug. 19, 2019, shooting death of Sandrina Khan at a house in the 5200 block of Sycamore Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
Officers found Khan on the front stoop of the house with a gunshot wound to her chest. She died a few minutes later at a hospital.
Police also found a child in a walker in the living room, according to court documents.
Khan had a protection order against Garrett — who sent threatening text messages to Khan, including one that read, "I'm kill both y'all," in the days before her death — according to court documents.
Garrett also has two active domestic violence cases pending. His bond on the homicide and related charges was set at $200,000, cash-only.
