KCPD assists FBI with officer-involved shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police and FBI agents were at the scene of an officer-involved shooting Wednesdsay afternoon near West 39th Street and Baltimore Avenue.

An FBI agent shot a man inside an apartment, Kansas City, Missouri, KCPD said.

"It was pretty much like a normal Wednesday, and then I saw police officers go in there," Draque Drako said. "They seemed to go in there pretty quick."

Drako owns Draques Barber Shop on 39th Street, across the street from the apartment complex. He said that last week he saw undercover officers at the apartment.

"It’s definitely not surprising to see the police over there, but the amount of cars that pulled up and the type of cars that pulled up is definitely out of the ordinary," he said.

The FBI is leading the investigation with KCPD assisting.

The officer-involved shooting occurred near the 100 block of West 39th near Baltimore, KCPD spokesman Sgt. Jake Becchina said.

"The FBI takes any shooting incident involving our agents seriously. In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident will be investigated by the FBI’s Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective, and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances," a statement from FBI Public Affairs Specialist Dixon Land said.

Land added the FBI had no further details to share.

There was no word on the condition of the man who was shot.
