KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As Kansas City celebrates the Royals' home opener, people will be able to enjoy some beautiful weather outside.
The National Weather Service announced that at 2 p.m. Monday, the city reached 85 degrees, breaking the record high for March 30. The previous record was 82 degrees, set in 1986.
The temperature rose to 87 degrees in Kansas City Monday afternoon, further extending the record.

Monday's record is the sixth broken since Feb. 28, which includes the earliest 90-degree day in Kansas City's history and the hottest temperature ever in Kansas City in March.
