A 10-hour blood drive at six different locations in greater KC, St. Joseph and Topeka is set for Wednesday, May 11th from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“There’s 28 people who did a simple act of donating blood that saved my life,” said Royals superfan Jimmy Faseler, who is partnering with the Community Blood Center for the blood drive.

Faseler was caught dancing on a jumbotron at The K nearly three years ago and quickly became an Internet sensation.

Faseler was gravely injured from gunshot wounds during a botched burglary in his Independence home a year ago. He says at one point in the aftermath, his nurse turned to him and said, “Jimmy, there’s more of other people’s blood in your body than even your own at this point in time.”

The goal for Wednesday’s blood drive is 300 donations throughout the day, and there will be a Royal incentive.

The CBC will raffle off an autographed baseball by legendary Kansas City Royals third baseman George Brett, as well as tickets to a Royals home game.

“Blood does have a shelf life of about 42 days, so we encourage people to continue to donate,” said Community Blood Center executive director David Graham. “Everyday about 600 blood products go out of this building to area hospitals impacting someone’s life.”

WHEN:  Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
