KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There’s a lot to shake out in the race to win the Democratic nomination for president, but Missouri’s turn to chime in is quickly approaching.

The Missouri Democratic Party said Tuesday that Kansas City will host a Democratic presidential forum on Sunday, March 8, at the Kansas City Convention Center.

The forum comes two days before Missouri Democrats will take to the polls in their party’s state primary on March 10.

Tentatively, the forum is slated to open to the general public at 1:30 p.m., with presidential candidates starting at 2:30 p.m.

The party says that although they have reached out to “all candidates,” no candidates have been officially confirmed.

Missouri's primary will come one week after Super Tuesday, when 14 states will cast ballots, likely narrowing the field of Democratic candidates even further.

In Missouri, experts see issues such as health care and electability as major factors in the state's primary contest.

"When we have done polling on this issue, a few things emerge," said Thomas Ringenberg, assistant professor of political science at Rockhurst University. "Health care is probably the single biggest issue next to electability. The biggest single issue might be who has the best chance of any Democrat to beat Donald Trump in the general election."
