KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The newest baby animal at the Kansas City Zoo now has a name.
A donor named the two-week-old giraffe Maxwell, the zoo said in a news release. The male calf was born on Sept. 30 to first-time mother Makali.
Maxwell is spending time with his mother before going outside to the African Plains exhibit, but he can be seen on the zoo’s live webcam .
Maxwell is the second baby giraffe born at the zoo this year. In February, the zoo welcomed a female calf, Dixie, whose mother is Lizzie.
