The Kansas Department of Health is investigating an E. coli outbreak from the Louisburg Cider Mill Ciderfest.
The festival was held on September 24-25 and October 1-2.
So far seven people are confirmed to have gotten sick with E. coli.
41 Action News reached out to Louisburg Cider Mill to get their take on the outbreak. While owner Josh Hebert did not want to talk on camera, he did release the following statement.
“On October 27, KDHE, KDA, and FDA all conducted an on-site assessment of our processing equipment, manufactured products, and some items sold in our retail store. We were informed on Monday of this week (Oct. 31), that all samples taken from our facility tested negative, which means our products are safe for consumption and not the source of the outbreak... We will continue to cooperate with the authorities in an effort to understand how this outbreak occurred and how it can be avoided in the future.”
The Kansas Department of Health said if anyone has experienced diarrhea within one to 10 days after attending the Ciderfest to call the KDHE Epidemiology Hotline at 877-427-7317.
