TOPEKA, Kan. — A Kansas man convicted of killing his roommate in Parsons with a machete died the same day he was admitted to prison, state corrections officials said Wednesday.
Timothy Russell Moses, 60, died Tuesday afternoon at El Dorado Correctional Facility, prison spokeswoman Jarris Perkins said. His death is under investigation.
He had been admitted to the prison earlier Tuesday, according to corrections department records, The Wichita Eagle reported.
He was sentenced in February to 25 years in prison for second-degree murder in the April 5, 2017, death of Donald Trammell, 59, in Parsons.
The Parsons Sun reported Moses was accused of killing Trammell at a home where they lived. He reportedly hit Trammell with a machete about 20 times.
