KBI cancels Silver Alert for missing western Kansas man

UPDATE, May 31 | The KBI says Hearting was located safe. The Silver Alert has been canceled.

EARLIER | The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has issued a statewide Silver Alert for a 72-year-old man who went missing from Wakeeney, Kansas.

Police in western Kansas are asking for the public’s help to locate Russell A. Hearting, a white male with gray hair and hazel eyes.

Hearting, who is 5-feet-10 and 160 pounds, was last seen on foot Wednesday, when he refused a ride around 10 p.m. in Trego County, Kansas.

He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and high-top tennis shoes.
