KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Kansas City Comic Con ends its three-day run at Bartle Hall with events through 5 p.m. Sunday.
This year there are appearances by Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and the Comic Book Men.
Along with those appearances, you'll find everything fantasy - from horns and masks to glamour makeup and wings to Harry Potter robes and Spiderman suits.
If you're from Kansas City, you'll also want to keep an eye out for loads of local talent.
Take Ben AbuSaada, otherwise known as the Kansas Geek Man. He's from right here in Kansas City but draws sketches that are made into trading cards for Topps and Upper Deck. He specializes in Star Wars, Marvel and The Walking Dead characters.
"When I was a kid I drew a lot. A couple of years ago I started posting some side drawings I was doing," said AbuSaada. "I've loved Star Wars since I was a kid. I have geek in my heart and it runs through my blood."
Now he brings and draws trading card sketches at the Kansas City Comic Con.
"It's kind of like going to the Super Bowl. Like an event where everyone has a common interest, something they are very passionate about," said AbuSaada.
That passion is shared by Chloe Warner, a junior in high school from Liberty. She dressed as the pink Power Ranger and looked at exhibits with her friends.
"I love watching Marvel movies, and I love to draw. It's regular here I'm sure," said Warner.
A friend of Warner's explained it was Comic-Con and similar interests that bonded the group, even though they attend the same high school.
"A lot of people don't like to talk about nerdy stuff in public but here everyone is doing it," said Liam Arciga, who was dressed as Commissar from Warhammer 40k.
Organizers said the convention is in its third year and has grown, but it does not have a total number of people who attended yet.
The Kansas City Comic Con is the first official stop on the 40th-anniversary tour and hosts a two-hour "Superman: The Movie" 40th Anniversary Reunion Presentation/Panel, featuring celebrity guest Margot Kidder, Sarah Douglas, and Jeff East from Kansas City who was the young Clark Kent.
Fans were able to meet their favorite comic book creators, artists, and cosplayers.
The Kansas City Comic Con will be back in 2018 but dates have not been announced yet.
