KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Frustrated by payment methods for parking downtown? Change has arrived.

Kansas City, Missouri, is promising an easier way to pay for parking digitally and monitor it remotely with an upgraded and rebranded mobile payment app.

ParkSmartKC, which was developed in partnership with Passport, launched Monday.

“We are excited for the launch of the ParkSmartKC app,” Bruce Campbell, KCMO parking administrator, said in a statement announcing the new app. “Our ultimate goal is to make it easy for drivers to locate and pay for parking and improve the user-experience and the app is an important step on that journey.”

Drivers can download ParkSmartKC from the mobile app store associated with their phone and create an account with payment information, which can be managed online.

Using the app, which replaces ParkMobile, drivers can pay for parking at more than 1,500 spots, paying for sessions on their phone and adding time remotely if time expires.

The app also will include receipts and parking history.
