KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman who visited the Jackson County Courthouse Saturday night did so to show her daughters what "powerful women can do."

Alicia Guggenmos was among those who congregated to honor the life and career of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Friday.

"She never gave up. Even when she was turned down for roles because of her gender, she just fought harder," Guggenmos said. "And so even if life tells you no, you should really just keep fighting and keep going because things will change and they can change. You just have to stay positive."

Guggenmos said her daughters, ages 2 and 3, have "decades to go in America."

"For them to retain the fundamental rights that I have is very, very important to me," she said.

Ginsburg, 87, died after a battle with cancer.
