KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, family is on its way to homeownership thanks to a nonprofit dedicated to stabilizing neighborhoods in need.

More than a dozen volunteers with Tikkun-KC, which purchases and refurbishes blighted houses, cleaned up a home Sunday on Indiana Avenue.

“We provide employment, and we find not just rentals but homeownership in a block that really needs it,” Larry Myer, of Tikkun-KC, said. “That’s how you stabilize neighborhoods is having people live in it.

Tikkun-KC also helps low-income families buy homes at an affordable price.

Funds from the sale of homes are reinvested into another home rehab project.
