KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tuesday is the deadline to submit ideas on the best ways to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Kansas City, Missouri.

This comes after Kansas City voters reversed the City Council's decision to change The Paseo to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Since then, Mayor Quinton Lucas asked the city's parks department to reach out to the community and figure out the best way to honor the late civil rights leader.

KC Parks released this statement in a press release late January:

"We are encouraged at the collective energy and attention put forth by many people of our community to ultimately create a more equitable and robust conversation towards unity in our beloved city."

Suggestions can be emailed to MLKTribute@kcmo.org or mailed to: Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, c/o MLK Tribute, 4600 E. 63rd Street, Kansas City, MO 64130.

Once the deadline passes, the Parks Deaprtment will hold a seriess of public meetings to evaluate the comments and ideas.
