KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, woman was killed in a head-on crash at Eastwood just east of Eastern about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Police said a Mercury sedan was eastbound when it collided head-on with a Volkswagen sedan.
The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Sumer J. Nigh, of Kansas City, Missouri, was the lone occupant of the Mercury and died at the scene.
Three occupants of the VW were transported to area hospitals. The most serious was a 19-year-old woman, was listed in critical condition.
Police said all three occupants of the VW now are in stable condition.
This is the 51st fatality of the year, compared with 36 for this date in 2019.
