KANSAS CITY, Mo. — RideKC just released a draft plan of its next system redesign.

The redesign looked at each bus route in the system. The plan was created after receiving feedback from riders' responses from the pop-up surveys last year.

"We've compiled all the surveys, from the first survey that we did back in the summer," Kansas City Area Transport Authority Spokeswoman Petrina Parker said. "And we put together the draft network , which is basically what the customers told us they wanted."

The three major things riders wanted to more of were more frequent service, better East-West connectivity and more frequent weekend service.

"So we look at every single route and there's basically, there's a noticeable difference," Parker said. "But there's not a dramatic overhaul of the system, so every route will have a little bit of alteration."

KCATA teamed up with Jarrett Walker Associated to help create the draft plan.

"They helped create this draft network based off their research, their knowledge of the redesign process, and so it was a great partnership," Parker said. "And now we have this draft plan and what we need now is we need for the people who use transit, our stakeholder, to take the survey."

The survey will determine whether to move forward with the current plan.

"What we want people to do is take a look at this existing service map that we have right now and then what the plan map would be, what the proposed plan would be and let us know what we got right," Parker said. "The comments we get from the second survey, we're going to take those comments and then we're going to incorporate them as we make the final plan. The final plan will go and be approved by our board of commissioners."

Comments and feedback will go to the Board in late summer, and changes will take effect in the Fall.
