KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A firefighter's South Kansas City home caught fire early Friday morning.
KCFD said the fire started in the basement of the home in the 12500 block of Oak Court and traveled up to the first floor.
Crews had it under control within 45 minutes.
The firefighter was out on a different call when the one about his house came in.
KCFD said the firefighter, his family and their dog are safe.
His family was out of town, the dog at doggie daycare.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Since it is a KCFD firefighter's home, it would be a conflict of interest for that department to investigate.
