KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department rescue unit was in the right place at the right time to rescue a small child trapped in a car that rolled into Brush Creek.
KCFD Spokesman James Garrett said that the child was left in a running car at a day care near Swope Parkway and Cleaver at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Somehow the boy managed to change gears, which caused the car to crash into a fence, slide down a hill and into the water.
A KCFD rescue unit just happened to be nearby and was waved down by at least one person.
Firefighters entered the water and rescued the child.
The child sustained a minor injury.
