KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 25-year-old has been charged in relation to an incident on Saturday with a Lenexa police officer.

Tevin White, of Kansas City, Kansas, was charged Monday in Johnson County Court with two counts of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer with contact and a weapon. His bond is set at $200,000 with the following conditions: No firearms, no driving and no alcohol.

At around 2:15 p.m. Saturday, a patrol officer investigated a suspicious vehicle near West 83rd Street and Pflumm Road. During that investigation, according to police, the driver of the suspicious vehicle “rammed into” the officer’s parked patrol car. The driver also hit the officer with the vehicle as he left the scene. The officer did not have serious injuries as a result of being struck. Police said the officer “discharged his department-issued handgun” at the suspect, as the suspect fled.

Officers in Shawnee later located the same suspicious vehicle, and the driver fled again, ultimately crashing near Blackfish Parkway and Lackman Road.

White is expected back in court at 10 a.m. Dec. 5.
