KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Kansas, man is facing attempted murder charges stemming from an incident last year in Prairie Village.

Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe charged Jacob Chaney, 29, with several crimes, including attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of burglary of a vehicle and two counts of theft in connection to a crime spree on June 15, 2018.

Just before midnight last year, police were called to the 2500 block of W. 73rd Street on a shooting. When they arrived, they found a victim – shot several times - who had attempted to interrupt an auto burglary.

The injuries to the victim were initially described as life-threatening, though the victim’s condition later improved.

Chaney remained behind bars Monday afternoon on a $100,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday.
