UPDATE, July 6 | The victim in the Ridge Avenue homicide was identified as 27-year-old Edwin R. Pinto of Kansas City, Kansas.

The victim in the 40th Terrace and Mission Road homicide was identified as 34-year-old Dennis K. Barnett of Kansas City, Kansas.

ORIGINAL STORY, July 5 | Kansas City, Kansas, police detectives were busy overnight, working two homicides.

The first came as a shooting call just before 2:30 a.m. in the 10000 block of Ridge Avenue.

Officers arrived and found an Hispanic male dead at the scene.

Two hours later, officers were dispatched on another shooting call near Rosedale Park at 40th Terrace and Mission Road.

There, officers found a Black male in his mid 30s dead at the scene.

Officers said there was a verbal disturbance, several shots were fired and a man was killed.

The suspect reportedly fled on foot, and officers are canvassing the neighborhood, and an investigation is underway.
