KCKPD limits animal control services due to COVID-19

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Animal services like adoption are on hold after a COVID-19 exposure, the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department announced Friday.

In a press release the department said, “animal Services will only respond, in person, to calls for service which include neglect of an animal, injury of an animal, or to bites of a human.”

Animal services will also be closed to the public unless a person is reclaiming a pet that was impounded.

Someone can do so Monday-Friday’s from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A department spokesperson said the reduction in services was done after a COVID-19 exposure.

The news release states people who may have been exposed will be monitored and tested.
