May 9 marks one year since Detective Brad Lancaster was killed in the line of duty.
He was responding to a call of a suspicious person at the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kansas.
Curtis Ayers pleaded guilty in January to killing Lancaster. By doing so, he avoided the death penalty.
The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department released a tribute video in Lancaster's honor.
