KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is in custody after barricading himself in a room at a Kansas City, Kansas, resort.

KCK police responded to a barricaded subject call Tuesday night at the Great Wolf Lodge, 10401 Cabela Drive.

Jonathon Westbrook, KCKPD public information officer, said that a man paid for a one-night stay at the lodge on Monday night. When the man tried to stay for a second night without paying, staff confronted him, according to Westbrook.

As the man left the premises, he made a remark about a weapon, Westbrook said. The man then returned and barricaded himself in a room.

A weapon was recovered, according to Westbrook, but it was unknown if the man has a weapon on him.

Westbrook told 41 Action News that one wing of the lodge had been evacuated and all guests were asked to stay in their rooms and to not leave the property.

Officers cleared the room and took the man into custody. He was the only person in the room, according to Westbrook.

Jason Lasecki, of the Great Wolf Lodge, said in a statement to 41 Action News that employees were "supporting law enforcement" in its response to a person barricaded in a guest room. Rooms adjacent to the barricaded subject were evacuated as a precaution. The resort also was on lock down, he said.

"All of our guests and pack members are in secure locations," Lasecki said. "The safety and security of our guests and pack is our top priority and the resort will remain in lockdown until the situation is resolved."
