KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, City Council passed a bill Thursday deciding where medical marijuana facilities can be located.

The council changed an original proposal recommending medical marijuana dispensaries and manufacturers be 1,000 feet away from churches, day cares and schools.

The bill the council passed requires dispensaries to be be 300 feet away.

Manufacturing facilities must be at least 750 feet away.

Elsewhere in the Kansas City metro, other cities have already set their own zoning regulations for the facilities.

Independence and Blue Springs each kept the regulation at 1,000 feet. In North Kansas City, officials lowered the distance to 300 feet.
