KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, trash and recycling services will be shifted one day later for the remainder of the week.

A city spokesperson said the services will be suspended Wednesday due to the weather.

The Kansas City area is under a winter weather advisory overnight and could get up to 2 inches of snow.

Residents whose trash day is usually Wednesday should be prepared for trash pickup on Thursday. Normal Thursday collection will happen Friday, and normal Friday collection is planned for Saturday.

The spokesperson said the delays are “necessary” in order for the city to ensure streets are plowed and salted properly.

New KCMO City Manager Brian Platt announced a new snow removal plan following a New Year’s Day snowstorm.

Part of that protocol entails suspending trash and recycling services during winter storms and moving those city employees to snow removal efforts.
