KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, police department had all paws on deck for the recent retirement of an officer and his K-9 partner.
Officer Dave Edwards retired Friday after more than 30 years of service, while his four-legged companion Ike served for eight years.
Today we celebrated the retirement of K9 Ike and his human partner, Officer Dave Edwards. They've served this city for 8 and 33 years, respectively. They have both been very good boys, so they both got cakes! pic.twitter.com/6jqRZvLpYI

Because they had both been “very good boys,” according to KCPD, each received a retirement cake.
Ike’s cake was provided by Three Dog Bakery.
