EARLIER | Seven people, including three carjacking suspects from an incident that took place in Grandview on Thursday afternoon, were taken to the hospital after a police chase ended in a crash at
East 31st Street and Brooklyn Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
KCPD said officers initiated pursuit of the vehicle near East 26th Street and Woodland Avenue, because the vehicle and its occupants were wanted for a violent offense and presented a danger to the public, KCPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Jake Becchina said.
The vehicle allegedly was stolen at gunpoint.
During the pursuit, the stolen purple Honda ran a stop sign at the intersection of East 31st Street and Garfield Avenue, striking a black Chrysler. The impact of the crash sent the Honda into a utility pole, which has knocked out power to the surrounding neighborhood.
Evergy crews were called to the scene to inspect the damage and make any necessary repairs.
Two adults and two children, ages 1 year old and 10 years old, also were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
