KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to the scene of a crash involving an officer Tuesday.

A police spokesman said a motorcycle officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash at the intersection of Northwest Waukomis Drive and Northwest 51st Street.

The officer was responding to help officers subdue a combative person 50th Street and Northwest Waukomis Drive. While the officer was traveling on Northwest Waukomis Drive they attempted to go around an SUV on its left when the SUV attempted to turn left. The officer was ejected, according to the police report. Witnesses said the officer was using lights and siren at the time of the collision.

The collision happened in Northmoor, and is being investigated by both Northmoor and Kansas City police. The officer injured is part of the Kansas City Police force.

Video from 41 Action News’ Skytracker showed the officer’s motorcycle on its side next to an SUV.

Police said the Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.

The SUV driver is cooperating with police, and the man involved in the disturbance was taken into custody.
