KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Around 1 a.m. Monday, officers found a woman's body outside on the ground in a neighborhood just southwest of the Kansas City Zoo. KCPD said they've opened a homicide investigation into her death.

The initial report said the woman was in her 20s or 30s, but no other identifying information was immediately available.

The overnight police report did not indicate how the woman might have died. There was no mention of gunfire.
